Internship at Roos Soetekouw
The studio is still young (2011), thus very flexible and always changing and growing. This means that working with us involves all sides of a design process as well as all the aspects of setting up your own bussiness. Since we started of at the Salone del Mobile this year, we now work from show to show, year round. Creating retail product designs for the next fair, as well as prototypes for next upcoming fair, client or whatever crosses our path.
What are we looking for
The most important thing is that an intern fits the team. Since Roos’ identity is woven into the designs it’s very important to connect well with the intern, a ‘click’ is required. The contents of the internship depends strongly upon the skills, motivation and character of the intern. The intern should be curious and eager and focused on what they want to do and learn.
Secondly: reliability and responsibility. The intern needs to accept the flexible character of the studio, which means most days are different and interesting, but there can also be days of hard and boring work…all is included.
What it involves?
Concepts, designing, experiments, lots of handwork, modelmaking, producing, assisting with production of the collections, sawing, creating prototypes, setting up a show, researching materials etc.
We are still working on Roos’s communication and sales. So if you are looking for an creative communication internship you are also more than welcome.
What’s required from the intern?
There are no specific skills required. Of course one should be able to speak and write English and a driver’s licence would be handy. The intern should have some experience with fabrics and sawing and be hands-on!
What we offer:
Roos pays for traveling around the studio, lunch or whatever is needed to be around the studio. The internship itself is unpaid. Minimum stay is four months (it is possible to extend the period in some cases, that depends on the schedule of the year). We work five days a week, whatever it takes.
An internship at Roos Soetekouw is useful and fun. There should be an atmosphere in which everybody feels comfortable.
How to apply?
Just send an email with a CV and some pictures of your work/or your website and a short motivation to Roos.
An interview follows.
